Meet Fr. Bill

Howdy ! I am Father Bill Woodruff, feel free to call me Father Bill. I was born on the 10th of February, 1956. I grew up on the upper east side of Manhattan Borough, NYC. I went to St. Ignatius Loyola Grade School, and went to St. Nicholas of Tolantine High School and graduated from Fordham University in 1978. At age 22 of that year I entered St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY and was ordained a Deacon in 1981 and assigned for 1 year to St. Vido’s Church in Mamaroneck, NY. On November 6th, 1982, I was ordained a Priest, BACK THEN I HAD HAIR ON MY HEAD ! Ha Ha ! My first assignment as a Priest was Holy Family Parish on Staten Island from 1982 – 1990. From 1990 – 1996 I was assigned to St. Patrick’s Church in Newburgh, NY. From 1996 – 2005 I was assigned to another St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac, NY, and from 2005 – 2011 I was at Assumption Parish in Maybrook, NY, fulltime while being a part time assistant at St. Mary’s in Montgomery, NY. As of July 1st, 2011 I was appointed by Archbishop Dolan to be your Administrator here at St. John’s in Saugerties. I love being a priest now that I’m in my 30th year ! I am a long distance walker, three times a week, power walking 3 1/3 miles in 50 minutes each time. I enjoy going to dinner with close friends once or twice a week and I enjoy being assigned in the most northern Parish of the Archdiocese of NY. Everything I do is part of the “HAPPY SOUL SAVING SERVICE “! God has Blessed me with a wonderful vocation to the Priesthood and I pray that young men and not so young men will answer God’s call to the Priesthood as well. If in any way , shape or form, I can be of any help in the Salvation of your souls, feel free to call me at 1-845-246-9581.
